Fresh Mint Tea - 2 Ways
Fresh mint is one of my favorite garden herbs to use in beverages. Using fresh mint in this tea recipe has alluring herbal aroma and flavor. Drinking peppermint tea can help us in various ways, from relief from mental stress and stomach discomfort.
Mint has many active compounds and oils such as menthol, mention and limonene.
Feel free to vary the mint varieties as long as it’s fresh from your garden or local store. Peppermint and spearmint are great choices, and other varieties will work just as well.
The tea I make can be made 2 ways, serve it hot or iced. I’ve created 2 ways to make this version: stewed and blended and strained for a vibrant green or steeped in hot water then cooled. The version I make is without sugar, so feel free to add your own garnishes like lemon or honey to sweeten to your liking.
So, let’s get onto the recipe!
MINT TEA INGREDIENTS:
10 Leaves Mint (wash thoroughly)
2 Cups Filtered Water
Honey or sweetener of your choice (optional)
First step is to gather your ingredients.
STEP 1
Add water to pot and bring to boil. Turn off pot
STEP 2
Add mint leaves and let steep for 3 to 5 minutes for desired strength.
STEP 3
Strain leaves and serve hot or let cool to serve cold.
For an even greener, super drink -
Strain out the leaves 3 minutes after steeping and let the water cool. Then add to blender and blend on high for until all leaves have been fully blended. Pour mixture through a fine strainer and serve with ice.
